Materials

22-24 mm eye pins according to the size of the R (24-30x); 30-32 mm eye pins according to the size of the R (48-60x); 4 mm rings (11-14x); 8 mm rings (2x); silicon rubber end pieces for glasses 2x

Needle-nose pliers or pliers with a pointed round end + snipping pliers; two pairs of flat-nose pliers; a ruler

Procedure

Step 1

Link the struts: 28-30x 9/0 or 24-26x 8/0. String 6x R onto a shorter eye pin. The eyes on both sides of the eye pin must be twisted in the same direction. About 8 mm of wire should protrude once the R have been strung. If the wire is longer, snip it off to the required length. Grasp the end of the wire between the rounded points of the pliers. Twist the wire around the pliers with a movement of the wrist. Before fully closing the eye, gently twist the wire along the edge of the hole of the R so that is is centrally located above the hole. Close it.

Step 2

Create a rhombus. First one side, then the next. String 10x R onto the longest eye pin and the eye of a strut. Create an eye. This eye is twisted so that it is at 90° in relation to the first one, i.e. it is perpendicular to it. The R are loose after the creation of the eye and are able to be gently moved so that it is possible to tilt the eye pin. String the eye of another long eye pin before closing the eye.

Step 3

String the eye of the second strut and 10x R onto the eye pin. Make an eye. Once again, it should be twisted at an angle of 90° in relation to the first one. The R are also able to be moved.

Step 4

String 10x R and the second eye of the first strut onto a long eye pin. Once again, create a second slightly twisted eye with the loose R on the eye pin. Before fully closing the eye, string the eye of a new eye pin.

Step 5

String the second eye of the second strut and 10x R onto an eye pin. Once again create a slightly twisted eye with the loose R on the eye pin. You have now made your first rhombus.

Step 6

Create more rhombuses. Place them in a row one after the other until they reach a length of 65-70 cm. 14-15 rhombuses for 9/0 and 12-13 rhombuses for a 8/0.

Step 7

Connect the outer eyes with 4mm rings. Use the flat-nose pliers to open the ring. String the eye of the first and second rhombuses. Close the ring with the second pair of flat-nose pliers. When connecting the other rhombuses, first string a ring onto the eye of the new rhombus and then the eye of the rhombus from the connected row.

Step 8

Thread an 8mm ring through the eyes of the outer rhombuses and add the loop of the silicon end piece.
