Course on how to make lamp beads at the Železný Brod Glass Secondary School

PRECIOSA ORNELA has taken advantage of an offer from the Glass Applied Arts School and Specialist Upper Secondary School in Železný Brod and enabled its employees from the marketing and sales departments to take part in a course on how to make lamp beads which are made from glass lamp rods from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Glass brand.

Lamp beads are made by winding pieces of variously coloured glass material onto a wire. Czech lamp beads are unique in the family of glass beads due to the method of their production and the technological possibilities. They are the only ones to be exclusively manufactured by means of the hand working of glass which means that every one is an original little work of art. Even when working in a series with a uniform design, the beads are never exact copies of each other. Hand production enables the almost unlimited combination of coloured glass into a single bead, variations of shape and extreme sizes. They are created by melting glass rods manufactured at Preciosa Ornela.

How else is it possible to become acquainted with and understand the specifics of this raw material than by using it in practise! The Personnel Department at Preciosa Ornela made use of an interesting offer from the Glass Applied Arts School in Železný Brod as part of the process of increasing the staff’s knowledge of our company’s products. The school prepared a course on the production of lamp beads for a group of employees from the sales and marketing departments. The production of lamp beads naturally requires a degree of skill which cannot be gained in just two days. However, those who tried working with glass are now not only able to pass on their basic knowledge of the properties of this material, but also to describe the special magic which this creative work with glass has.
