On Tuesday 4th June 2013, just as the floods were reaching their peak in Prague and the Ústí area, Czech Television filmed another episode in the “Wandering Camera” series at the Preciosa Ornela plant in Desná. The black river which flows directly under the production halls was very restrained despite heavy rain.
The part of the script for the July episode, which also includes a short discussion of Preciosa Ornela, was carefully consulted and compiled. The five-member team from Czech Television was warmly welcomed by the company’s management representative. As a result, the filming had to go quickly, but all the planned shots were successfully completed. The first of the planned demonstrations involved the filming of the hand melting of glass rods and lamp rods and their subsequent cutting.
The program’s author and presenter, Mrs Iveta Toušlová, even tried hand pressing beads herself. The demanding five-hour filming session will result in an edit lasting several minutes and containing essential and interesting information about the history of the glass industry in the Jizera Mountains and the origins of the production of seed beads and beads with displays of the hand production of seed beads and beads.
