Every year Preciosa gives young talent, professional designers and artists the opportunity to realise their dreams within the framework of the Master of Crystal competition which Preciosa organises in cooperation with the Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou. The competition provides young and talented designers with the opportunity to allow their dreams, thoughts and ideas to take form alongside master glass craftsmen.
This year's competition was entered by 70 original designs or works, from which the jury consisting of representatives of all the organisers and the art designer Jakub Berdych selected the winners of the individual categories which then advanced to the competition final.
The winner of the Master of Crystal competition in 2016 was Klára Mikešová, a graduate from the Architecture Faculty at the Czech Technical University in Prague and also from the Art and Architecture Faculty at the Technical University in Liberec who entered the competition with a set of original jewelry decorated with typical Czech cuts entitled IDENTITY. "Czech glass is highly recognisable in the world. I endeavoured to transfer this idea to my jewelry by means of the use of Czech cuts. Thanks to this, wearer should be able to identified as being Czech anywhere in the world,“ is how Klára Mikešová described the idea behind her entry.
The successful designer,Klára Mikešová, received the opportunity to visit an international exhibition and also the unique opportunity to display her work at an international trade fair as her prize. The winning original set will also be included in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou for the 2017/18 season.
THe works of art of all the finalists are on display at the DOX BY QUBUS gallery in Prague until 14th November 2016 during the largest exhibition of design and fashion in Central Europe, Designblok.
