PRECIOSA enables young designers to realise their dreams
What could be more interesting for young Czech artists than an opportunity to realise their design dreams within the realistic environment of a production company?
What could be more attractive for a Czech company than the option of cooperating with young people with an original view of the world?
It was precisely for these reasons that the Czech glass company PRECIOSA established the Master of Crystal competition eight years ago.
The grand finale of the competition took place on 22nd October in the luxurious environment of the PRECIOSA showroom in Jáchymova Street, Prague. The 2015 Master of Crystal award went to Klára Mikešová, a graduate of the Architecture Faculty at the Czech Technical University in Prague and the Art and Architecture Faculty at the Technical University in Liberec, who entered the competition with a set of original jewellery called ORIGINS.
Klára Mikešová received a trip to the Premiere Vision Trade Fair in Paris and a unique opportunity to display her work at three international trade fairs in Paris, Hong Kong and Milan. The original Origins jewellery will also be included in the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou during the 2016/2017 season.
An expert jury selected the winners of the individual categories in the so-called small finale which took place in spring of this year. PRECIOSA then enabled the winners to produce their work at its manufacturing facilities so that they could compete for the overall victory in the competition.
PRECIOSA has organised the Master of Crystal competition in association with the Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou and the Czech Glass Society since 2008. Its goal is to strengthen the company's cooperation, especially with students and graduates from technical and applied arts universities and secondary schools and to subsequently present the results of their work to both the lay and specialist public alike. This year, the competition was also opened to professional designers and artists for the first time.
